Miracle Tea

...and I do not use this term lightly.  With only 3 ingredients,  lemon, ginger and honey, but each packing a serious punch of restorative/good for what ails ya/healthy wonderfulness, then why yes — I do think it is nothing short of miraculous.  Leah drank a gallon of this to assuage her angst when studying for the GMAT and applying to business schools.  I make a pot for those achey, 'I think I'm coming down with something' days.

Just some of the collective evidence-based health benefits of ginger, lemon & honey:

  • relieves nausea
  • boosts immunity
  • relief from cold & flu symptoms
  • antioxidants to aid elimination of toxins
  • lowers cholesterol
  • aids in weight loss

To Make Your Own Pot of Miracle Tea:

Get your favorite tea pot and fill it with the hottest water from the tap or boil some water and add to the tea pot.  Let it sit there to get nice and warm.

In a sauce pan, add 3 or 4 cups of water.  Turn it on high and bring to a boil.

Grate or chop 2 to 3 inches of fresh ginger* and add to the boiling water in the sauce pan.  Turn the heat down and simmer gently for 10 minutes.

When the ginger  water is ready, pour the warming water out of the teapot.  Add honey to taste to the warm pot, 2 or 3 tablespoons.

Pour the hot ginger water through a strainer into the teapot, right on top of the honey.  Replace the lid to the teapot and git it a few swirls.

Roll lemon to juice it up (and break down the inner membranes) and squeeze 2 - 3 tablespoons of lemon juice into the pot.

Gently stir and enjoy. Delicious hot or cold :)

*peeling is optional!
